Cosmetic tattoos typically last 1 to 3 years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you follow aftercare instructions. Factors like sun exposure, skincare products, and natural cell turnover can influence fading. For best results, a refresh session every 12-18 months is recommended.
Most clients report only mild discomfort, often comparing it to light scratching or gentle pressure. We apply a topical numbing cream beforehand to minimize any sensitivity. Areas like the lips might feel slightly more tender, but the overall process is very manageable.
Healing usually takes 7-14 days. Initially, you may notice redness, slight swelling, and a darker pigment that will gradually soften. Around days 2-5, light scabbing and flaking can occur. To protect your results, avoid direct sun, saunas, pools, and active skincare (like retinols) during this time. Final results settle in about 4-6 weeks.
Machine tattooing uses a device to implant pigment evenly and more gently into the skin. This method allows for both hair-like strokes and soft shading, offering longer-lasting results and better pigment retention – especially suitable for oily or mature skin. Microblading, by contrast, is a manual technique that may require more frequent touch-ups.
This follow-up appointment ensures your cosmetic tattoo heals evenly and looks its best. Everyone’s skin retains pigment differently, and this session allows us to adjust color, add detail, and perfect the shape. It’s an essential step for achieving a flawless and lasting result.
